Delivery guy kayaks across Mdumbi River, jogs along beach to bring birthday gifts to kids
If beyond call of duty was a person, it would be this delivery guy.
Takealot parcel delivered by DPD delivery man, across Mdumbi River, Eastern Cape
Lester Kiewit speaks to Warren Hudson, Manager at Cool Bananas at Mdumbi River, Tshani Village and recipient of the delivery.
An identified DPD delivery guy from the Eastern Cape is receiving all the praise after going the extra mile and beyond the call of duty to deliver birthday gifts for kids in Tshani Village which is across the Eastern Cape's Mdumbi River.
Warren Hudson, the recipient of the delivery explains that he received a call from a delivery man saying he has arrived with a parcel... the only problem was he (and the package) were on the other side of the river, 25 kilometers away which is about an hour to an hour and a half traveling time by car.
Facing this dilemma, the delivery guy responded to Hudson saying, "I'll see what I can do".
And he did all things possible to get the package delivered including heading down to the river to hire a kayak ride which costed R15 (from his own pocket).
The journey continued as the delivery man with a heart of gold jogged along the beach to get to Hudson and deliver the parcel.
"And there he was sweating and perspiring after getting there fast. It was so quick, I couldn't believe my eyes."
- Warren Hudson, Manager - Cool Bananas
The delivery guy who crossed local rivers and beaches might cross international boarders to go to Spain as he's been nominated into a competition where hopefully he'll be a winner, says Hudson.
The delivery guy has also been lauded by his employers for going the extra mile but remains humble as he "did not want any acknowledgment", adds Hudson.
What a day in the life of this delivery guy!
