DURBAN - The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party maintains its stance that the car accident involving its leader former president Jacob Zuma was planned.
Last week, Zuma’s armoured car was involved in a crash after being hit by a drunk driver.
Party leaders of the MK Party were in the Eshowe Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where the man accused of crashing into Zuma’s car appeared.

The party has since called for Zuma’s security detail to be beefed up, claiming there is a plot to kill its leader.
For the MK Party, last Thursday’s accident linked to Jacob Zuma’s presidential security convoy has everything to do with politics.
While the party has no substantial evidence to back its claims, its head of elections in KwaZulu-Natal Musa Mkhize says the accident is aimed is tampering with its elections campaign.
“We strongly believe this is a well-planned matter to disturb us, to disturb South Africans who will vote the majority the Umkhonto Wesizwe come the 29th of May.”
The MK Party also wants the police to properly investigate this case.
