CAPE TOWN - Firefighters are keeping a watchful eye on the Devil's Peak mountain slopes for any possible flare-ups.
On Friday night, a fire along the lower slopes of the mountain was reported to authorities.
Table Mountain National Park spokesperson Lauren Clayton said all services were dispatched to assist.
"Firefighting resources including teams from NCC Environmental Services, Volunteer Wild Fire Services, the Provincial Disaster Management Centre and the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services were dispatched."
Clayton added that the teams spent close to two hours containing the blaze.
"The Devils Peak fire, fanned by strong winds, was later contained at about 9.40pm that same evening. Firefighting crews remained on scene throughout the evening with a fresh crew arriving this morning [Saturday] to conduct further mop-up operations."
