Witness implicates alleged gang boss Modack in attempted murder of attorney Booth
The State witness, who is a self-confessed gunman and who cannot be named to protect his identity, has already implicated Modack in the murder of Nicolaas Heerschap, the father of former Hawks Warrant Officer Nico Heerschap, in 2019.

CAPE TOWN - A State witness has implicated alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, in the attempted murder of attorney, William Booth.
Modack and 14 other co-accused face 124 charges which include murder, attempted murder, corruption, and contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
The State witness, who is a self-confessed gunman and who cannot be named to protect his identity, has already implicated Modack in the murder of Nicolaas Heerschap, the father of former Hawks Warrant Officer Nico Heerschap, in 2019.
The witness, who is serving a 25-year prison sentence for Heerschap’s murder, told the Western Cape High Court that Modack put a R3 million hit on Booth's life.
He said Modack ordered the hit on Booth because he believed Sexy Boys gang boss, Jerome Booysen, had killed Cape Town lawyer, Pete Mihalik.
Mihalik, who was representing Modack at the time, was shot and killed in Green Point in 2018.
The witness alleges the hit on Booth was "an eye for an eye" because Booth was Booysen’s lawyer.
He said he was ready to shoot Booth on two occasions in 2019 but was unable to do so because of the presence of police officers.
The witness also claims he shot and killed tow-truck driver, Richard Joseph, on 20 September in 2019 after Modack ordered the murder.
He alleges Joseph worked for a towing company whose owner had a dispute with Modack.
The case continues.
