JOHANNESBURG - Ekurhuleni Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana, whose future in the position hangs in the balance, has given himself a seven out 10 rating for outstanding leadership.
Ngodwana, an African Independent Congress (AIC) councillor, was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a council meeting that’s hearing a motion of no confidence against him on Thursday.
The bid to have him removed from office was tabled by ActionSA, which believes he has led to the decay of the municipality.
But Ngodwana has dismissed the party's suggestions, saying service delivery has improved under his leadership in the last year.
"Out of 10, I will give myself a 7. If you remember, it was a disaster when I came last April [2023]. There was no refuse collection there, illegal dumping and our townships were a mess."
