JOHANNESBURG - The Border Management Authority said its technical teams are ready to manage any system glitches that may interrupt services at ports of entry.
The authority is putting measures in place for the upcoming Easter long weekend.
It said the numbers for this year’s easter period could escalate further as members of the Zion Christian Church opens for the annual Easter pilgrimage to Moria for the first time since COVID-19.
Commissioner Michael Masiapato briefed the media on the authority's state of readiness for the Easter period.
Masiapato said officials have engaged with their counterparts in neighbouring countries on ways to improve the movement of travellers.
He said over 400 trainee border guards have been deployed to high-density ports of entry.
“Upon realising the need for additional capacity, we increased our human resource deployment for immigration and law enforcement duties."
