JOHANNESBURG - Parliament is remaining tight-lipped on reports that the National Assembly Speaker is set to hand herself over to police on Friday.
An article in the Mail & Guardian says Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula could be handcuffed in the next 24 hours over an alleged R2 million kickback she received for a tender deal during her period as defence minister.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) raided her Johannesburg home for five hours this week and Parliament said she fully cooperated with officials while maintaining her innocence.

Parliament spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, said the Speaker was preparing to leave the country for a trip to Geneva in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA)'s Siviwe Gwarube is calling for law enforcement agencies to act with haste.
"We call on them to move speedily and of course, this now reinforces our call for the Speaker to step down immediately because now we are looking at a situation where we will have the leader and the head of the legislative arm of state, not only accused but possibly charged and arrested for corruption."
