TMZ and other news outlets reports that the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) have been investigating the case.
Leone's modeling agency took to X to say that the star's cause of death is "being investigated as a robbery and homicide" which does not seem to correlate to the Albuquerque Police Department's progress on the case.
To be clear, Sophia death is being investigated as a robbery and homicide. We're going to take time off social media because this is difficult. But we do appreciate seeing the stories from people who knew her. We all agree she was a sweetheart, kind, and gentle. We all love her

A representative from APD told TMZ reporters that they never indicated robbery or homicide as Leone's cause of death, saying that the department was looking at it as a "suspicious death."
The police are also awaiting toxicology results to learn more about Leone's cause of death.
"We do not know at this time if she is a victim of a crime so this is a unique situation," said the APD representative to TMZ.
Leone's family have remained quiet about the details of Sophia's death and continue to raise $12,000 on GoFundMe to cover the costs of the funeral and memorial which the family wasn't prepared for.
