NEVADA - Two controversial former presidents in South Africa and the United States (US) have re-emerged in 2024 to make a bid for high office.
Jacob Zuma and Donald Trump, who both face a slew of legal battles, have been campaigning across their respective countries.

In 2016, while still on The Daily Show, South African sensation Trevor Noah drew parallels between Trump and Zuma.
“Because when you look at Zuma and Trump, it seems like they are brothers from another mother,” said Noah.
South Africa’s Constitution serves as a firewall that completely blocks Zuma’s ambitions to return to the Union Buildings.
However, Americans will seemingly have to go to the polls in their numbers if they want to prevent a criminally charged Trump from taking high office.
Chris Charles Scott, a Nevadan filmmaker, said he’s worried that Democratic supporters aren't too keen to participate in the elections.
Scott, who documented Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters for years, said the upcoming elections are apocalyptic for the US.
“I don’t want to fear monger. We said in 2020 [that it] was the pivotal election for the American politics but no, this one is because Trump made a comeback.”
In both countries, there are fears of violence as supporters throw their weight behind the disgraced former statesmen.
Trump in the US made a veiled threat suggesting there will never be elections again in the country if he doesn't win in November.
