Five dead, 14 injured in two separate accidents in the Eastern Cape

In the first incident the driver of a car and two other passengers died after he collided with a minibus taxi.

JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating culpable homicide cases, after five people were killed in two separate accidents in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
Fourteen others were left injured.

In the first incident the driver of a car and two other passengers died after he collided with a minibus taxi.

Two others and all the passengers on the taxi were taken to hospital.

Eastern Cape Transport Spokesperson Unathi Binqose said in the second incident a man lost control of the of bakkie he was driving.

He said the driver and a minor died after the bakkie overturned.

"With a total of 19 people, being involved in these deadly crashes we know that things could have been a lot worse. The MEC for transport in the Eastern Cape Xolile Nqatha is extending his condolences to the families who lost loved ones while wishing the 14 who are in hospital a speedy recovery.”
