Over R6.5bn to be invested in expanding MyCiTi bus route - Mayor Hill-Lewis
Speaking at a MyCiTi bus route construction site in Khayelitsha on Friday, Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis applauded progress made in the construction of the route, despite delays caused by so-called construction mafia syndicates.
CAPE TOWN - Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis says over R6.5 billion will be invested to expand the MyCiTi bus route southeast of the city.
The project is expected to benefit tens of thousands of commuters from Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain, linking them to areas including Claremont and Wynberg.
Mayor Hill-Lewis was speaking at the MyCiTi bus route construction site in Khayelitsha on Friday.
He applauded progress made in the construction of the route, despite delays caused by so-called construction mafia syndicates.
“I was very glad to see the excellent progress made at two major construction sites for the building of the two new MyCiTi bus depots between Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha when I visited those construction sites today [Friday].
“These two depots are part of the City’s MyCiTi bus expansion Project, a massive R10 billion project in total.”
