DURBAN - One of the accused in the murder case of rapper Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and his friend Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane, alleges he was assaulted and forced by police to confess to the murders.

Five of the seven men accused in the matter appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court for bail application on Thursday.

However, only two suspects proceeded with their bail applications as the other three were not ready with their affidavits.

The first accused claims he was assaulted by members of the police.

Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi told the court that on 12 december 2023, he was arrested in connection with the death of William Kunene.

He said after his arrest police assaulted him and demanded that he make a confession statement about the murder of AKA.

Mkhwanazi pleaded with the court to release him on bail as he wants to support his pregnant wife and also assist her in paying a loan she took to build their home.

The third accused Siyanda Myeza is currently out on bail on charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Both accused have no previous convictions.

The bail application for the three other accused will resume on Monday.
