SARA to contest nationally and in two provinces
The party said it will contest nationally and in Gauteng and Limpopo.
JOHANNESBURG - The South African Rainbow Alliance is the latest new political party to announce it has met the threshold to contest in the upcoming general elections.
The party said it will contest nationally and in two provinces namely Gauteng and Limpopo.
SARA presidential candidate Colleen Makhubele said the party has also submitted its candidates list to the electoral commission which comprises a fair gender and generational mix.
“This happens as we commemorate March 8, which is International Women’s Day. It’s very big that a women-led political party qualifies on this significant date. Women participation, the voice of women in politics is so required in this time. It’s only a woman on top who can change South Africa.”
New political parties have until 5pm on Friday to submit to the electoral commission the required number of signatures from registered voters.
