CAPE TOWN - Saldanha Bay residents are continuing the search for six-year-old Joshlin Smith in the area surrounding her Middelpos home on Friday.
Joshlin has been missing for 18 days after she disappeared while in the care of her mother Kelly Smith’s boyfriend Jacquin Appollis.
Smith and Appollis have since been arrested along with two other suspects and charged with kidnapping and human trafficking.
A small group of residents from various areas in Saldanha Bay said they won’t stop searching for Joshlin until she is found.
The community also expressed disappointment that police are not present in the search for Joshlin in the area on Friday.
Saldanha Bay Councillor Vernon Vraagom who led the search on Friday, said the fact that suspects have been arrested won’t stop the search.
“For us we’re glad that they are behind bars for now, but our main objective is to find Joshlin. The case can go on. We just need someone to tell us where Joshlin is. That’s all," said Vraagom.
Meanwhile, police say as the search widens, new information could soon shed light on the search for Joshlin.
