Heavy traffic on the M1 in the south of Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG - Police have closed off parts of the M1 north in Ormonde, south of Johannesburg following what’s been described as a crime scene.
 
Traffic has been heavily backed up on the route approaching the Xavier Street offramp and motorists are urged to steer clear and use alternative roads.

Gauteng Traffic Police Spokesperson Obed Sibasa said officers are currently on the scene assessing the situation.

"Traffic is badly affected due to the scene and possible freeway closure. Motorists are advised to be patient and use alternative routes," said Sibasa.
