JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Health Department says water supplies to facilities affected by the recent outage have started to resume again this morning.
Earlier this week, some medical facilities in the province struggled to meet the influx of patients as they battled with water interruptions.
The Eikenhof pump station was forced offline last weekend following a lightning strike at one of City Power’s local substations.

This has led to widespread interruptions to the supply of water across Johannesburg, with a number of healthcare facilities affected, including the Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, Helen Joseph Hospital, Zola Community Health Centre and Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital.
The provincial Health Department’s spokesperson Motalatale Modiba confirmed that the problem had been resolved.
"Water is now flowing back into the facilities. Helen Joseph - this morning, we can confirm that they do have water. Rahima Moosa - they do have water. Yusuf Dadoo - they also do have water. I’m still just waiting for a report for the Zola Community Health Centre in Soweto … So hopefully by mid-day later today we should be able to say the system has fully stabilised in terms of our facilities."
