CAPE TOWN - Four generations of a Cape Town family are gearing up to take part in Sunday's Cape Town Cycle Tour.
They are among almost 30,000 riders who will hit the road in the 46th edition of the world's largest-timed cycle race.
The youngest participant of the Banner family is just 12-years-old.
He will be riding along with his father, grandfather, Iain Banner and 91-year-old great-grandfather, Stewart Banner.
Iain who is also the man who brought Formula E to Cape Town said it is humbling and an absolute privilege to have four generations together.
"It actually started last year before my dad's stroke where I thought we should put the 'Stewie B 90' peloton together in his 90th year. Sadly he had the stroke but he's recovered and I think it's a message to people out there that even if you've taken a hard knock, there's still a future ahead, if you get into a positive space mentally and that's what he's been able to do."
Stewart who has a bit of a speech impediment due to a recent stroke, said physically he is doing well.
The 91-year-old has completed 15 Cape Town Cycle Tours.
"It's very special indeed. I'm excited about Sunday with the family. I'm very excited."
