JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba says should he be voted president, he will not be dragged into dealing with issues like the Middle East conflict, arguing that he has fires to put out on the domestic front.
Mashaba was the first guest on the fourth season of Politricking with Tshidi Madia – a politics podcast by Eyewitness News.
ActionSA is set to contest national and provincial elections for the first time. This is hot on the heels of an impressive showing when it debuted in the 2021 local government elections.
The party has also put forward provincial candidates for all nine provinces.
Despite some criticism over his approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict, Mashaba insisted he simply would not get involved.
“I'm not going to be distracted right now, to put out the fire in my house when the lives of my family are at risk.”
Mashaba also laughed off Build One South Africa’s Mmusi Maimane’s jobs plan approach ahead of the polls.
“He’s promised South Africans to produce two million jobs within the next five years. He must be an extraordinary politician or government.”
