JOHANNESBURG - The father of one of murder-accused paediatric surgeon Peter Beale's alleged victims said he hoped no other family ever had to experience what his did.
Beale is currently on trial in the High Court in Johannesburg for the murders of three children he operated on.

The State's position is that he acted recklessly and performed surgeries that were not necessary in a bid to recover money he lost in a tanked investment.
When Peter Beale was first arrested and charged in 2019, it was in connection with Zayaan Sayed’s death.
Additional charges related to the deaths of other children were subsequently added as well, though.
Zayaan’s father, Mohammadh Sayed, wrapped up his evidence on the stand on Monday and he spoke to members of the media afterwards about the devastating loss of his son, saying his only consolation was that, hopefully, his child would be the last to lose his life “in vain” in this way.
“Hopefully this is a message to everyone else that we are not just numbers on a spreadsheet, we are people, we are human beings. They are children, at the end of the day, that go for these procedures to better their lives not to lose them.”
Beale’s trial is continuing on Tuesday with a new witness, another parent, expected to take the stand.
