KZN police probing murder of MK party member

DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police are investigating a case of murder following the killing of an uMkhonto weSizwe party coordinator who was shot in Durban over the weekend.
The incident is believed to have taken place at the Tehuis hostel, in Umlazi on Saturday.
Vusumuzi Ndlovu is said to have been coming from a party meeting which he attended in the area when he was attacked.
Police in the province said investigations into the circumstances around his killing are ongoing.
KZN Police Spokesperson, Thenjiswa Ngcobo said, “The police in Umlazi are investigating a case of murder following an incident in which a 48-year old man was allegedly shot and killed at a hostel in Umlazi, on the 2nd march 2024. The deceased was with a friend when he was murdered in the parking lot.”
His death comes months before the much anticipated 2024 provincial and national elections.
In 2018, the Moerane Commission which investigated political murders in KZN said political killings are imminent during elections in the province.
In February, The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) in the province called on the provincial government to act against political killings ahead of the 2024 polls.
