JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) is not ruling out the possibility of including its members accused of corruption or implicated in state capture in its national and provincial lists.

The party's national executive committee is meeting for its second day at the Birchwood Hotel on Tuesday.

The party will consider the names of people it will send to represent it in the country's national and provincial legislative houses.

A big question hangs over the almost 100 members who appeared before the party's integrity commission for their links to the state capture report and other ethics-related matters.

ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula said everyone would be considered on a case-by-case basis.

“If anyone is on the list, there is a reason that person is left on the list. You are right to scrutinise it and ask questions, and once this process is done, we will be able to clarify the questions you are asking if those individuals happen to be on the [final] list. At the present moment, it’s not really dodging any question, it’s putting the cart before the horse.”

All political parties have until Friday to submit their lists to the Electoral Commission of South Africa.
