Western Cape cop in court on charge of rape
According to police watchdog IPID, the suspect was arrested for allegedly violating a woman who was in police custody.

CAPE TOWN - A police constable based at Citrusdal police station in the Western Cape is expected to make a court appearance on Monday on a charge of rape.
According to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), the suspect was arrested for allegedly violating a woman who was in police custody.
The woman was under arrest on a charge of assault.
The IPID's spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, said: "The police constable allegedly went into a holding cell and raped the complainant. The incident was reported to IPID, and the officer was arrested and detained at Picketberrg police station."
