CAPE TOWN - Disruptive rains are forecast for the Western Cape on Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.
The South African weather service has issued a yellow level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms for the province and some parts of the Northern Cape.
Forecaster Stacey Colborne said this will result in flooding and large amounts of small hail over the Cape Winelands, Overberg, the City of Cape Town, Saldanha Bay and the Swartland regions.
"The impact that can be expected on the ground with flash flooding of roads and susceptible settlements, as well as dangerous to those crossing fast flowing streams," said Colborne.
Colborne added that the weather should improve early Tuesday morning.
"By about 6 o'clock (6am) most of the rainfall should have moved eastward, and we're still expecting some rain along our south coast, that would be our Overberg area and Garden route for Tuesday. But no warnings have been issued for those areas," said Colborne.
