JOHANNESBURG - New kid on the block Rise Mzansi held a picket outside Eskom's Megawatt Park on Friday, over the impact of load shedding on citizens.

The party called for the power utility and government to get their house in order.

Dozens of members carrying banners and blowing whistles camped outside the power utility's headquarters.

They burst out in struggle songs and called for an immediate stabilisation of the power grid.

The party's Gauteng Premier candidate Vuyiswa Ramokgopa touched on the negative impact of power cuts on economic growth.

"To build a safe and prosperous and an equal and a united South Africa in one generation, needs to start with us keeping the lights on."

She also urged Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi to pack his bags.

"We invite you to enjoy your last 89 days and make sure that you leave things nice and tidy, so that when we enter we are able to hit the ground running."
