CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape SAPS has reiterated its commitment to the search for missing six-year-old Joshlin Smith in Saldanha Bay.
This follows conflicting reports saying police had withdrawn from the search for the little girl, who has been missing for eleven days since disappearing from her Middelpos home in Saldanha Bay last week.
Earlier this week, the SAPS scaled down its search operations prompting Saldanha Bay Mayor Andre Truter to call on the Western Cape government for assistance.
Police Spokesperson Malcolm Poje said due to the time that has past since Joshlin's disappearance, the police have taken a different approach to the search and investigation.
"Led by information at our disposal we have utilised specialised capabilities. Our investigators supported by members from visible policing and specialised units with interventions from other law enforcement agencies as well as scores of community members have been hard at work since she was reported missing."
