The community raised concerns during the week when 18 primary school pupils were injured after a classroom roof collapsed at a local primary school.
Disgruntled parents organised a demonstration at the School of Specialisation in Tembisa on Thursday morning, demanding accountability for its neglect.
"Our children are living in filth, more especially in the toilets and classrooms. It’s shocking for a School of Specialisation - it’s very shocking."
Fearing for the safety of their children, parents are now voicing their concerns about the state of schools in the community.
“Where are the funds? Who ate the funds? Why is it that people who are eating the school funds are not taken to task?”
The plight of Tembisa's schools added to a growing list of Gauteng institutions with shoddy maintenance and crumbling infrastructure, turning them into potential death traps for children.
