CAPE TOWN - The Saldanha Bay community is desperate to find the missing six-year-old who disappeared more than a week ago.

Joslin Smith was reported missing by her mother when she returned from work last Monday.

The little girl was left in the care of her mother's boyfriend at the time of her disappearance.

A R20, 000 reward has been issued for any information that leads to finding her.

Saldanha Bay Mayor Andre Truter says the search now involves residents, the police and the South African Navy.

“I am very excited about this step as it can blow some fresh energy into this investigation.”

The search for the missing child has now moved to the Saldanha Bay coastline.

“About 30 community members that included Neighbourhood Watch, law enforcement, police took to the beach again and searched very actively and focused on the beachline to see if they can’t find Joshlin.”
