JOHANNESBURG - Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said the government would continue to work closely with the private sector to address the country’s energy woes.
On Monday, Ramokgopa briefed the media on the implementation of the energy action plan.
He said that in some cases, private consultants who sat on the national electricity crisis committee had been roped in to assist at certain power stations.

The Kusile, Kendal, Majuba, Matla, Thuthuka, and Duvha power stations were among the best-performing in the country in 2023.
Ramokgopa said part of the success of some of these power stations boiled down to how they were managed.
He used the Thuthuka power station as an example, where one of the country’s top power station managers was deployed to oversee operations.
He added that consultants from the private sector were also roped in to assist.
"So these are the six power stations that we identified and then in the course of that, we were able to draw additional expertise from the private sector and some of them were then dispatched to work at these power stations."
He said over the festive period, Eskom took an aggressive approach to planned maintenance, taking advantage of the lower energy demand.
