Deadline looms for ANC to hand over final cadre deployment docs

The court mandated that the ANC must hand over all cadre deployment documents to the DA.

However, the DA claims that many documents were missing.

The ruling party has until the end of the day to hand over the rest of the documents or they will be in contempt of court.

DA MP Leon Schreiber says that there were massive redactions, and no documents were provided from before 2018.

Ramaphosa claims ANC’s 5-year plan will tackle poverty

The ANC released its election manifesto over the weekend ahead of the National Elections which will take place on 29 May 2024.

ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says that the party has a five-year plan which will address the devastating poverty plaguing South Africa.

SECTION27 goes to SCA on corporal punishment matter

SECTION27 has taken to the Supreme Court of Appeal to get harsher sanctions for teachers who have used corporal punishment.

Two teachers severely injured students at two different schools, but both teachers received lenient punishments and were able to go back to school.

Bernadette Wicks, EWN Reporter, says that SECTION27 is aiming to have these cases brought back before the South African Council for Educators.

Bishop Stephen Zondo is facing multiple charges of rape, indecent assault, and defeating the ends of justice.

Kgomotso Modise, EWN Reporter says that there are church members who have come to support Zondo in court and seem unbothered by the allegations.

Samatu marches to raise concern about unemployed doctors

Samatu marched to the union buildings over the large number of qualified health care workers who cannot find employment.

The members marched 3.7km with a memorandum of demands, including increased wages and promises that intern doctors will be absorbed into the healthcare system.

Search for missing girl in Cape Town intensifies

Law enforcement and advocacy groups are searching for a six-year-old girl from Saldanha Bay who went missing a week ago.

Joshlin Smith has been missing since last Monday, when she disappeared while in the care of her mother’s boyfriend.

Reagen Allen, Western Cape Provincial Minister of Community Safety and Police Oversight , says that this disappearance is devastating and a R20 000 reward has been posted for any information on her whereabouts.
