Enyobeni tavern owners set to return to court Friday for sentencing
There have been calls for the tavern owners Siyakhangela and Vuyokazi Ndevu to receive a harsh sentence. This after 21 minors died at the tavern in 2022 during a pens down party.

EAST LONDON - The Enyobeni tavern owners, who have been found guilty of selling alcohol to minors, will return to court for sentencing on Friday.
The couple, Siyakhangela and Vuyokazi Ndevu, are set to appear at the East London Magistrates Court after they were found guilty earlier in the week.
Twenty-one minors died at the tavern in 2022 during a pens down party, leading to widespread calls for those parties to be banned.
As the Enyobeni Tarvern owners return to court, there have been calls for the couple to receive a harsh sentence.
The Eastern Cape Liquor Board is among those calling for a hefty sentence, stating that this will deter other tavern owners from selling alcohol to children.
During the proceedings on Wednesday, the court found that the owners did not take all the necessary precautions to ensure that all occupants at the establishment were of legal age to drink.
A formal inquest into their deaths is still expected to take place to find out what happened on that night.
