Masina says his name being used for political expediency after Malema’s Ekurhuleni sabotage claims
The former Ekurhuleni mayor told Eyewitness News that Malema’s claims were baseless, calling them a deliberate attempt to tarnishing his reputation.
JOHANNESBURG - Former Ekurhuleni mayor, Mzwandile Masina, said that his name was being used for political expediency after Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema suggested that he was behind attempts to sabotage the municipality.
Masina told Eyewitness News that Malema's allegations were not only baseless but described them as a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.

During a media briefing last week, Malema told journalists that if the City of Ekurhuleni failed, it should be blamed on Masina and the African National Congress’s (ANC) regional coordinator, Jongizizwe Dlabathi.
The former Ekurhuleni mayor urged politicians there to focus on the interests and aspirations of residents in the city.
This, as he accused Malema of trying to tarnish his name.
Masina, who was a vocal critic of the ANC getting into a working relationship with the EFF, denied being involved in attempts to sabotage the municipality.
He further said he’d never do anything to intentionally harm Ekurhuleni, flagging that he delivered a comprehensive handover.
Masina was also quick to remind Malema that he played no part in the coalition government currently in place, saying he had not even witnessed the existing agreement between the red berets and his party, the ANC.
