CAPE TOWN - Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Minister Thoko Didiza said the Ingonyama Trust Board continues to function in line with the law.
This comes after Zulu monarch King Misuzulu KaZwelithini fired Chief Thanduyise Mzimela and appointed himself as the chairperson last week.
The board oversees three million hectares of land in Kwazulu-Natal.
"Following the developments of the past week, the minister had taken note that the king has decided to take over the chairperson of the board instead of appointing a nominee.
"She trusts that there will be a seamless transition and ensure that all of the matters that relate to the governance of the institution continue to be attended to," said department spokesperson Reggie Ngcobo.
