Head-on collision crash injures cyclist on Chapman's Peak Drive
After a cyclist's was involved in a head-on crash with a speeding superbike on Chapman's Peak drive on 19 February, Neil Robinson, the CEO of Pedal Power shares an update on his status.
Lester Kiewit speaks to Neil Robinson from Pedal Power.
A cyclist named Brent Hubert was involved in an unfortunate crash with an unnamed driver on a superbike along Chapman's Peak Drive on Monday (19 February).
Robinson reports that some riders who were with Hubert said that the motorcyclist came up Chapman's Peak Drive from the Noordhoek side and crossed a solid white line to overtake a beige Toyota Land Cruiser which resulted in a head-on collision with Hubert.
After the incident, Hubert was rushed to hospital and is currently suffering head trauma.
"He's not well but he is stable with good vitals at the moment."

Stay Wider for the Rider - a group of cyclists who gather around the notorious spot to help keep cyclists safe and hold motorists accountable to the speed limit of the area - put out an update on social media on Tuesday morning about Hubert's condition.
The group notes that Hubert is "sedated and ventilated" but responding to touch.
The incident brings into question safety concerns around speeding motorists which is a common occurrence on Chapman's Peak Drive...
Robinson says that authorities are looking for the owner of the beige Toyota Land Cruiser who witnessed the crash to provide a statement.
While the area becomes increasingly populated around this time of the year as cyclists train for the Cape Town Cycle Tour, Robinson says motorists should exercise "tolerance" and "obey the rules of the road."
"It comes down to behaviour, tolerance and respect. If you have to wait behind a cyclist for 300 meters - is it the end of the world? People are completely and utterly intolerable in this country. Let's just change our attitude and our behaviour."

Robinson adds that motorists using this stretch of the road should practice safety by:
- Being aware of signage in popular cycling spots.
- Respecting the speed limit.
- Obeying the rules of the road.
Robinson hopes that Hubert has a speedy recovery.
"This is a devastating cycling incident and we wish him the best recovery possible."
