CAPE TOWN - Gun violence in Cape Town continues unabated, with one of the latest incidents on Sunday leaving a man killed, while two men and a woman were left wounded in a shooting in Tsunami in Delft.

The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage.

The police's Wesley Twigg said no arrests have yet been made.

"Delft police attended to the crime scene where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The 23-year-old male was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were taken to a medical facility for treatment."

Last week, the Police Ministry released the third quarterly crime statistics covering the period between 1 October and 31 December 2023.

The numbers showed an increase in reported murder cases, with a total of 7,710 people murdered in South Africa during that period - 155 more compared to the same period in 2022.
