JOHANNESBURG - Former Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina has rubbished claims by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema that he’s behind attempts to sabotage the metro.
Malema told journalists last week that if the municipality fails – it will be Masina and current African National Congress (ANC) Ekurhuleni regional coordinator Jongizize Dlabathi’s fault.
Masina told Eyewitness News the comments are not only baseless but are a deliberate attempt to tarnish their reputations.
The EFF and ANC are co-governing the city, but the ANC in the region has been calling for an end to the relationship arguing that its doing more harm than good.
As pressure mounts on the EFF over the decaying state of Ekurhuleni, its president Malema has sought to place blame on former ANC regional chair and mayor Masina
“If that municipality fails, its Mzwandile Masinas using Dlabathi, to sabotage the unblocking of a toilet, they don’t want that.”
But Masina has hit out at Malema – he says the comments are not only misleading but harmful.
The city under Masina received three clean audits – the former mayor insists he will never intentionally hamper service delivery.
Masina’s also called on the fiery politician to cease the dissemination of baseless slander and to focus his energy on serving South Africans.
