Eastern Cape Transport Dept probing culpable homicide cases after 2 crashes claim 9 lives
According to the department, five people died after a car and a truck collided in Dyoki on Sunday, while the other claimed four lives in Maluti.

CAPE TOWN - The Eastern Cape Department of Transport said it was investigating cases of culpable homicide following two crashes that claimed nine lives.
The department said that five people died after a car and a truck collided on the R56 road in Dyoki on Sunday.
There was another crash on the T12 road in Maluti where four people died.
"The MEC for Transport in the Eastern Cape, Mr Xolile Nqatha, is extending his sincere condolences to the families of the deceased," said Provincial Transport spokesperson, Unathi Binqose.
"He’s also calling on the road users, motorists in particular, to be extra vigilant at all times. The investigations into the cause of these accidents are underway. However, there were signs of alcohol having been used in one of the two accidents."
