JOHANNESBURG - The findings of an investigation looking into the circumstances that led to the drowning of grade 7 pupil, Latoya Temilton, are set to be released after the Gauteng State of the Province Address (SOPA).

The 12-year-old from Laerskool Queenswood in Tshwane died at a school leadership camp last month, where she was allegedly swimming unsupervised.

Her death sparked outrage among parents at the school and prompted the Gauteng Education Department to hire an independent law firm to probe the circumstances around the tragedy.

According to the department, the investigation was completed within the seven-day deadline set for the law firm, however, the findings have not been shared with the family just yet.

Gauteng Education Department spokesperson, Steve Mabona, said that speaking to the family was the last step.

"We were delayed by the family - these guys were done... they were just waiting to interact with them but I think they are done with that proccess."
