JOHANNESBURG - The State's fourth witness in alleged sex worker serial killer Sifiso Mkhwanazi's trial has scrutinised the admission he made to police about killing six women.
Sergeant Bongani Mbonambi testified against the 21-year-old who faces a litany of charges that include six of murder, seven of rape and one of aggravated robbery.
Mbonambi questioned Mkhwanazi's admission explaining that he claimed to have killed the first sex worker by mistake however, he went on to kill five more.
A confident Mbonambi remained resolute in his stance that police never needed Mkhwanazi's confession due to the overwhelming evidence they had against him.
The investigating officer said if Mkhwanazi stopped after one murder, police may have given him the benefit of the doubt.
However, killing five more people and then concealing their bodies shows premeditation.
Mbonambi also rubbished Mkhwanazi's other reason for committing the gruesome crimes.
Namely, a disagreement over the price that the sex workers wanted to charge him for services rendered.
"If you look at these pictures and you compare his admission, it doesn't make sense my lord."
Mbonambi took the court back to Mkhwanazi's initial arrest in 2021 on charges of rape laid by a sex worker.
He said anyone who was jailed falsely as per Mkhwanazi's claims would not return to the streets to solicit the services of a sex worker.
