Eskom making 'significant progress' to repair damaged infrastructure, restore power in Karoo

CAPE TOWN - Eskom says its recovery plan to repair its infrastructure and restore electricity in the Central Karoo remains on track.
 
A thunderstorm hit the region at the start of February, severely damaging critical infrastructure.
 
Sutherland, Matjiesfontein, Laingsburg, Ladismith, Leeu Gamka and Prince Albert were among several towns affected by electricity outages.
 
The power utility is aiming to fully restore power to the affected communities by Thursday.
 
Eskom's Kyle Cookson: "Eskom's recovery plan to repair the critical infrastructure that was severely damaged by inclement weather on Saturday, 3 February 2024 is making significant progress, with an electricity restoration date in sight, which remains for Thursday, 15 February 2024. Eskom teams are working around the clock to bring back electricity supply to the affected towns in the Karoo."
