JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA said members who cannot raise funds for the party cannot stand for their seats in parliament and provincial legislature.
The party said the ability to raise money is a requirement for members who want to be its public representatives after the general elections.
ActionSA on Tuesday revealed Athol Trollip, Thoko Mashiane and Patricia Kopane as its premier candidates for Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and the Free State respectively.
As a party participating in its first general elections and with no seats in both parliamentary houses ActionSA does not receive any money from the electoral commission.
The party relies solely on funding from private donors and money from its president Herman Mashaba.

Mashaba said while a figure has not yet been decided, fundraising from members aspiring for parliament is non-negotiable.
“We are unapologetic as a party, we are asking everyone who is going to be on our list please do your best to assist us to do fundraising because if you are not going to assist us with fundraising, you are not going to go to Parliament because going to Parliament you need the mandate from the voters, and getting the voters is not something you get from going to church to pray.”
Mashaba said the party would publish its list of candidates for national and provincial Parliament within the next month.
