CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town said it would be observing Pregnancy Week from 12 to 16 February.
The focus will be on the services at clinics and the basic antenatal care.
The metro said the initiative aims to reduce pregnancy complications for both mother and baby.
"Pregnant women should begin visiting antenatal care as soon as they know they’re pregnant - within the first three months of their pregnancy or as soon as 12 weeks,” said the city's MMC for Community Services and Health, Patricia van der Ross.
