JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg's Executive Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda said City Manager Floyd Brink should remain focused on service delivery and avoid the Democratic Alliance's (DA's) attempts to distract him.
The Johannesburg High Court dismissed the party's application to have some members of the city's executive held in contempt of court for Brink's alleged illegal appointment as City Manager.
This is the second time that the Democratic Alliance (DA) is challenging the City over Brink's appointment.
Gwamanda said over the last year, the DA has sought to undermine the progress made by the City's executive in trying to stabilise the metro.
Johannesburg received an unqualified audit opinion for the 2022/2023 financial year which Gwamanda said is due to Brink's leadership as city manager.
He has accused the DA of masking such attacks as trying to bring about accountability when they are in fact laced with racist intents.
Gwamanda said he has noted the high court's decision and will ensure that the City Manager continues his duties undisturbed.
