Taps run dry in parts of Sandton following major pipe burst

JOBURG - Some areas in Sandton have been left without water following a pipe burst in Atholl.

Joburg Water said it has resorted to closing off the water supply to the Illovo Tower to repair the major pipe burst in Atholl that has been leaking since Wednesday.

The utility said a time estimation for the completion of repairs is not yet known.

Areas including Illovo, Morningside, Rivonia, Benmore Gardens, Riverclub and Hyde Park have been affected by the outage.

Joburg Water said water tankers have been availed to the affected areas while repairs are underway.

However, the utility said its unclear when the repairs would be completed.
