JOHANNESBURG - Defence Minister Thandi Modise said a strong security contingent will man every corner of the Cape Town City Hall on Thursday until President Cyril Ramaphosa safely leaves the venue tonight.
Modise alongside Police Minister Bheki Cele were addressing law enforcement officials at the Castle of Good Hope ahead of their deployment for the State of the Nation Address.
Modise has this message for officials: "For those of you who will be on duty until everyone has gone home we thank you in advance. Please hold on. Please do the best you can. Because if we fall apart, the country falls apart."

Meanwhile, Cele pleaded with officials to be on their best behaviour and put safety first.
"[We're] calling on you, behave yourselves. One major problem is when we are called because one of you has misbehaved. So, for now, you stay with your integrity and you stay with your sobriety."
