JOHANNESBURG - Rise Mzansi’s national chairperson, Vuyiswa Ramokgopa, will on Tuesday be formally announced as the party’s Gauteng premier candidate ahead of the general elections.
Ramokgopa will go head-to-head with the likes of current premier and African National Congress (ANC) provincial chairperson, Panyaza Lesufi, and the Democratic Alliance (DA)’s provincial leader, Solly Msimanga.
Rise Mzansi is a newcomer on the political scene and is set to contest both the national and provincial elections for the first time.
The party’s leader, Songezo Zibi, announced that Ramokgopa had accepted the nomination from the organisation to run for premier of the country’s economic hub.
He said that she was the kind of leader both Gauteng and the country needed.
"As a woman, she understands the struggles women still have to fight to gain their place in our society and our economy. She has been and continues to be a champion of economic transformation. Vuyiswa is a mother and she understands the extra burden women carry for caring for their own families and children."
