The Cape Winelands District Municipality's fire services received support from crews and vehicles from Breede Valley Municipality fire services. Actve firefighting efforts will persist on the fire line higher up the mountain throughout the day."
Roodt said that a blaze that broke out on the slopes of Bainskloof had been contained, while firefighting efforts would continue in Baviaanshoek and Matroosberg.
"Progress was made throughout the night on the remaining active fire line on the Matroosberg but it has not yet been contained. Fresh teams will continue operations this morning. Active firefighting will continue throughout the day at Baviaanshoek. There are currently two firefighting vehicles with crew on scene."
