JOHANNESBURG - There's been a delay in the case of the man accused of killing six sex workers, Sifiso Mkhwanazi, at the High Court in Palm Ridge.
The 21-year-old is facing six counts of murder, seven of rape, and a litany of other charges.
Mkhwanazi was arrested two years ago after six bodies were discovered at his father's panel beating workshop in Johannesburg.
Senior State Advocate Leswikane Mashabela said the witnesses intended to be called to testify on Monday have requested to not be named or shown by the media.
Last week Friday, the case was put down in order for the State and the accused to enter a plea deal. However, this proved futile, with the State now expected to bring out its first witness on Monday.
The witness is the father of the accused, and his request to not have his name or face broadcast resulted in a short adjournment.
Mashabela, the accused's legal counsel, and a representative from the media are in the judge's chambers discussing a way forward for Monday's proceedings.
