Amapiano mega-producer Musa Keys is excited to represent South Africa at this year’s Grammy Awards.
The hitmaker recently sat down with the Drive with Thando team on 947 to talk about the historical achievement.
He is nominated for Best African Music Performance for his collaboration with Nigerian megastar Davido for their hit ‘Unavailable’.
“I was actually in a basement parking lot, I was getting a kota… I was getting ready for a meeting. My phone was blowing up the minute the Grammys posted about it. It was crazy.”
- Musa Keys
Fellow South African hit-maker Tyla has also been nominated in the same category for her song ‘Water’.
Musa Keys says he always knew he would be up on the Grammys nominees list, and that this is only the beginning.
“It's history; it would mean so much for my dreams. I’ve been talking about it; I used to tell my friends all the time that I knew I was going to get a Grammy.”
- Musa Keys
“I told myself if this is the introduction for me, from this year onwards I need to be nominated every year.”
- Musa Keys
