Cele to visit Port St Johns following deadly taxi-related violence
On 16 January, two warring associations in from Port St Johns and Lusikisiki were involved in a gun fight that resulted in six people being killed.

CAPE TOWN - Minister of Police Bheki Cele is expected to visit Port St Johns in Eastern Cape on Thursday following deadly taxi-related violence.
Six people were killed when two warring taxi associations from Port St Johns and Lusikisiki engaged in a gun battle on 16 January.

The eleven suspects who were arrested for the shooting have since been released due to lack of evidence.
It's now believed that the two taxi associations have agreed to end the violence.
Police Ministry spokesperson Lirandzu Themba: "The Minister of Police, together with the Minister of Transport, Sindisiwe Chikunga, and the Premier of Eastern Cape, Oscar Mabuyane, will engage the management of the SAPS [South African Police Service] in the province on their responses to the taxi disputes, as well as engage the community and relevant stakeholders in an effort to bring lasting solutions to the taxi-related violence."
