JOHANNESBURG - The Tembisa community policing forum is urging residents in the area to report any crimes against them instead of taking the law into their own hands.

These sentiments follow the death of a sixth man in Kanana Extension in Rabie Ridge on Tuesday morning after they were allegedly stoned to death by some community members.

On Monday, five men were killed for allegedly terorrising the community

The policing forum said that while there had been a number of criminal incidents taking place in the area, residents had not been formally reporting them to police.

Executive member, Tumisang Rapudi, said some residents did not view the police as being helpful in dealing with crime in Tembisa.

"We will report, they will arrest. After two or three days, you see them on the streets, or they will be out on bail and continuing with the same crimes. So, it’s a big challenge fighting what needs to be done and what should not be done."
